Abstract
The text explores the mystery of Christ within the life of the Catholic school. The starting point is: 'Christ is the cornerstone of the Catholic school'. The text pursues this across eight chapters for the 'living stones' who complete the 'new temple in the Lord'. Chapter 1, the contemporary context for Catholic schools; Chapter 2, foundations in faith; Chapter 3, evangelization and Catholic schooling in Australia; Chapter 4, voices that articulate a formative view; Chapter 5, modelling and defining Catholic school identity; Chapter 6, what Practical Theology suggests; Chapter 7, pathways and horizons for spirituality; and Chapter 8, personal and organizational effects. The resource focuses on Spirit and Person, as integrated with Professional Practice. The context is personal faith life, school culture, and community. Outcomes are life-giving, life-wide and life-long. Text goals are capacity building for individuals, groups and communities as each is transformed by the living Spirit of Christ. Transformation is a journey; one that engages life as a whole, recognizes developmental differences, is animated by the Spirit and functions within the abundance of God.
